I am a systems thinker by training, a strategist by nature, and a people person at my core. Originally from Colombia, I grew up in South Florida and have lived in Barcelona, Washington, D.C., Ann Arbor, Charlottesville, and now Denver.
My first academic love is Latin American studies, and I have a Bachelors from The College of William & Mary, a Masters from American University, and a PhD from the University of Michigan that all attest to that. But, during all those degrees, I realized a home in the humanities would not best express my fullest self—professionally and personally. Consequently, I pursued a Diversity & Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University, a Talent Acquisition Credential from the Society of Human Resource Management ®, and Dare to Lead ® training from the University of Virginia. Finally, I am working on my International Coaching Federation (ICF) certification through Brown University’s ACT Leadership Executive Coaching Program.
My work spans K–12 and higher education, as well as organizational culture and change initiatives across the public and private sectors. I have worked at the University of Michigan, The Miller School of Albemarle (a small but mighty day/boarding school in Charlottesville), and now at the University of Virginia. Additionally, I have consulted with the Virginia Diversity Network, Five Ponds Press, MAIA Impact School, Guatemala, and Virginia Tech. I have presented on my approaches and experiences across dozens of conferences and universities over the last decade—including the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education, the Association of Research Libraries, Columbia University, and Georgia Tech.
My coaching and consulting practice is grounded in my humanities education, my professional training in people-centered disciplines, my lived experiences as a queer Latina, clergy spouse, and parent, and a deep belief in human potential, imagination, and collective capacity.
Outside of work, my wife, our twin toddlers, and our Labradoodle have my whole heart—and most of my time—whether we’re out in nature or gathered with our beloved community.
